TOPIC:
VICTORY OVER CHALLENGES OF LIFE
UNDERSTANDING THE HEART
INTRODUCTION: Victory over challenges of life is a broad topic. Life
in general can be broken into various segments for the purpose of direct
application of the word of God. For instance; is it the aspect of marriage?
Career? Relationships? Health? that we want the word of God to address? Any of
these areas can have its peculiar challenges. We are particular about the
principles of the doctrine of Christ that will help us to address, resolve and
survive any areas of life that is experiencing challenges. We should be looking
at the foundational principles and the fullness of person of Christ. What do we
mean by all these?
1. FOUNDATIONAL PRINCIPLES. As enumerated
in Hebrews 6:1-8, we expect to have a situation whereby anyone who proclaims
faith in Christ enjoys all the benefits of redemption attached to his or her
relationship with Christ membership of the Church, participation in the ordinances
and submission to the leadership of the church.
2. FUNCTIONAL PRINCIPLE.With the above taken care
of, the believer is expected to move on, building on the effect of the former
with specific attention given to resolving the problems of sin and self and
moving on to fruitfulness in service (John 15:1-7; Ps 92:12-15). A functional
faith in Christ builds on the knowledge and application of His grace to
overcome obstacles to a godly lifestyle and fruitful ministry. (II Peter 1:3-11).
3. FULLNESS OF THE PERSON OF CHRIST. Moving
along with foundational principle and functional life of fruitfulness in
service, we need another level of victory which is abiding in the fullness of
His person. That is the estate of divine blessing of graduating grace and glory
(John 1”16; II Cor. 3:18).
It is the
estate of divine life of manifesting sonship and abiding in His love. (Rom 8:14,
19,31-39)
CONCLUSION: Our victory is in Christ Jesus. We live in Him and He
in us. We are under obligation to express through our lives and service His
fullness that will make us fruitful in all good things (Gal 2:20; Ephesian 2:6-10)
