MORNING DEVOTION

OUR DAILY BREAD May 22, 2016 Sunday PADDLING HOME David Roper Philippians 3:12-16 One thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead. Philippians 3:13 Paul put it another way: “I press on toward the goal" (Phil. 3:14). His goal was to be like Jesus. Nothing else mattered. He admitted that he had much ground to cover but he would not give up until he attained that to which Jesus had called him. None of us are what we should be, but we can, like the apostle, press and pray toward that goal. Like Paul we will always say, “I have not yet arrived." Nevertheless, despite weakness, failure, and weariness we must press on (v. 12). But everything depends on God. Without Him we can do nothing! God is with you, calling you onward. Keep paddling!   Lord, help us learn that we do not press on toward our goal by our own effort but through prayer and the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Apart from You, we can do nothing. Work in us today, we pray. ...

LETTER TO THE SENSELESS CHRISTIANS

LETTER TO THE SENSELESS CHRISTIANS - Ishaku Abdul'rahman Mohammed  Ishaku Abdul'rahman Mohammed now a Christian wrote this Letter to the senseless Christians to begin to use their brains. From what I see today in Nigeria I am very certain that Muslims would not need to use a violent jihad to islamize Nigeria. CHRISTIANS themselves will be used by Muslims to islamize Nigeria. Afterwards the Muslims will turn against the Christians that helped them. These are the type Muslims call the useful idiots. Just ask yourself how Muslim nations became Islamic nations? Is there any record of them doing evangelical work? Did they tell people about how wonderful their prophet Mohammed is? How he raped women? How he beheaded nine hundred Jews in one day? How he had sex with a nine year old girl? How he was demon possessed for one year? How he could not perform a miracle? How he is a prophet without a prophecy? How he sold slaves for weapons of war? If MUSLIMS did not do evangelism how come ...

7 THINGS THAT MUST BE IN PLACE B4 MARRIAGE

7 THINS THAT  MUST BE IN PLACE BEFORE MARRIAGE husband-and-wife1 SALVATION Therefore shall a man LEAVE his father and his mother, and shall CLEAVE unto his wife: and they shall be one fleshGenesis2:24 KJV. You must leave your parents and cleave to your spouse; but a natural man cannot really cleave. ‘Leave’ and ‘Cleave’ would have been the same word if not for letter ‘C’ that differentiates them. So when you leaveto cleave, you need letter ‘C’ which is Christ. C – Stands for Christ Without Christ you can only LEAVE, but you cannot CLEAVE. If you remove ‘C’ from cleave it becomes leave. In other words, without Christ instead of LEAVING and CLEAVING, people LEAVE AND LEAVE. Don’t ever marry anybody who lacks the letter ‘C’ (Christ), because you may never be able to cleave to him. It takes Christ to cement you with your spouse;without him marriage becomes a prison yard. DEATH TO SELF Many mar...

MORNING DEVOTION

OUR DAILY BREAD May 16, 2016 Monday IS HE GOOD? Anne Cetas Genesis 3:1-8 He said to the woman, “Did God really say . . . ?” Genesis 3:1 Doubting God’s goodness is as old as Adam and Eve (Gen. 3). The serpent put that thought in Eve’s mind when he suggested that God was withholding the fruit from her because “God knows that when you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil” (v. 5). In pride, Adam and Eve thought they, rather than God, should determine what was good for them. Years after losing a daughter in death, James Bryan Smith found he was able to affirm God’s goodness. In his book The Good and Beautiful God, Smith wrote, "God's goodness is not something I get to decide upon. I am a human being with limited understanding." Smith’s amazing comment isn’t naïve; it arises out of years of processing his grief and seeking God’s heart. In times of discouragement, let...
