The unfailing God (Isaiah 40:28-31)
Sunday 3rd September, 2017
Theme: The unfailing God (Isaiah 40:28-31);
Topic: restoring the lost Grounds (1 Samuel 30:8; Ezekiel 37:3-5)
God is supreme in the universe. His word is final. When He speaks heaven and earth are affected because great number of publishers is attached to the intent of His command or promise according to Psalm 68:11,”The Lord gave the word: great was the company of those that published it”. See also 2 Kings 6:16 where Prophet Elisha assured his servant, “And he answered, Fear not: for they that be with us are more than they that be with them”. Everything in heaven and earth is affected when God speaks. Even Satan is affected because all things must work together for the good of the purpose of our God. Since the word of God cannot be broken, why do we always have some promises lingering for a long time without manifestation? Where do we miss it? The story of Daniel is an eye opener to us. The man of God stood in prayer for 21 days and the Prince of Persia (a messenger of Satan) withstood him, not shifting ground until heaven sent reinforcement.
When God speaks all ears hear and some run to obey but others run to oppose. Believers must take time to run with the heavenly beings that are sent to carry out their assignment and at the same time fight against the powers that are out to frustrate God’s purpose. The promise of God does not go without a challenge from the pit of hell. This is encapsulated in the words of our Lord Jesus Christ in Mathew 16:18. “And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. True, the gates of hell shall not prevail but they will contend.
John assures us that those who are born of God and are on the Lord’s side will win at the end of the day. Paul the Apostle finished his race by fighting for his faith. Jude admonished us to contend for our faith. God has spoken and His word will not fall to the ground, though ten thousand demons are at war against its fulfillment. Those who are for us are more. We must recover every ground they have occupied because of our unbelief and prayerlessness. Wherever the enemy of our faith appears to have gained ground, we must identify with patience and precision. We must prayerfully turn to God who has spoken good concerning us for His intervention. No pretence. No presumption. We serve a God who does not fail. Like David, we must ask question; like Ezekiel, we must see things in the light of heaven. We must refuse to volunteer a say until we are sure dry bones will rise again (1Samuel 30:8; Ezekiel 37:3-5). May the Lord fight our battles and restore us in Jesus name.
