Theme of the Year: Our Year of New Heights (Lev. 26:13 & Phil. 3:13, 14)
Theme of the Month: New Heights (Lev. 26:13 & Phil. 3:13, 14)
Topic: New Mind for New Heights (Romans 12:2)
Mind is the human consciousness that originates in the brain and is manifested especially in thought, perception, emotion, will, memory, and imagination. The mind is the starting point of everything a man does and becomes in life. It plays a very important role in in the whole being of a man. Keeping the mind in right condition for effective and productive reasoning is sole responsibility of man. The Bible admonishes in the book of Romans 12:2 thus: “And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God”. The word of God renews the mind when it is studied regularly, believed and adopted as standard for living.
The mind is a battle field for the Spirit of God and the devil as both seek for supremacy of control. A man whose heart is under the control of the devil cannot be pleasing to God and such cannot receive blessings from God. In order to attain new heights in life, it is essential that the mind must be well positioned and guided. The Bible says, "His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and goodness. Through these, He has given us His very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature and escape the corruption in the world caused by evil desires" (II Peter 1:3-4). Everything we need for life and godliness comes through the knowledge of Him. In other words, applying the word of God is what affects your life, animates you and adds value.
Dearly beloved people of God, there are new heights prepared by God for you to attain this year but you need to determine to stay with God to enjoy them. The devil will try with all sorts of tricks to distract and disconnect you from God and His word but I implore you to make conscious effort in determining to stay in tune with God. The more you are connected with God the more He reveals and proves Himself in your life. The Bible presents a lot of detailed instructions on what kinds of things we should think about. Philippians 4:8 alone tells us to think about things that build us up, not things that tear us down. “For the rest, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is worthy of reverence and is honorable and seemly, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely and lovable, whatever is kind and winsome and gracious, if there is any virtue and excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think on and weigh and take account of these things [fix your minds on them].” (Amp).
If you want to be productive, useful, and attain new heights as a Christian, get into the Word of God. Read the Bible for its teaching, study the Scripture systematically, meditate on God’s Word devotionally, and memorize it faithfully—each of these are transforming activities that position your life for attaining new heights always. God bless you.
