PASTOR'S CORNER

THEME OF THE YEAR: UNCOMMON REWARD (GEN. 15:1)

THEME OF THE MONTH: ABIDING PRESENCE OF GOD (EXODUS 33:13-18)

TOPIC: THE POWER OF ABIDING PRESENCE OF GOD

We started this month theme by explain the abiding and manifest

presence of God and both are needed in our lives as people of God. To

enjoy the presence of God in our lives always our lives must be

attractive to God. This we can achieve by consciously making efforts

while relying on God’s grace to keep us holy. A saying goes thus:

“cleanliness is next to godliness”. This implies that you can’t

attract God’s presence while living in uncleanness. The truth is that

God is much more interested to have His presence in our lives than we

desire to have His presence. More than ever before, God longs for our

love and intimacy, and He deserves our absolute love and surrender. He

is the lover of our souls, and He wants to be in the life of each

believer. I am convinced that life without Him is empty and

meaningless

At the moment when the Lord’s intimate presence becomes rich in our

lives, He begins to bless us beyond measure. In fact, God tells us,

“They that seek the Lord shall not want any good thing” (Psalm 34:10).

When His presence becomes abundant, He brings total abundance into our

lives. The presence of Christ at the wedding of Cana of Galilee made a

great difference when they ran out of wine. In order to prevent shame

to the celebrants He provided much better and abundant wine. As you

make your life a dwelling place for God you will experience the

supernatural abundant providence of God in Jesus’ name.

In this very uncertain world sometimes we ask the question, “Can I be

so secured in the Lord? If sicknesses spread and plague, pestilence

all over, is the Lord able to keep me?” And even as Christians

sometimes we doubt, if we are not anchored in God’s word. But Psalms

91 is a powerful weapon of assurance of what the presence of God can

accomplish in our lives in the midst of difficulties and challenges.

Verse one says ”He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High

shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.” Where is the secret

place of God?  It is in your heart. How much of your heart is

dedicated to God? Whole, part or no part is dedicated to God?

Psalms 91:1 is a very lovely picture, very assuring picture of the

protection of God. How do you find yourself in that place? It’s not a

physical place and can never be a physical place that you can run to.

I want to purpose to you, every time you get a hold of God’s word, you

believe and you pray accordingly. For instance if you are fearful of

some kind of unknown danger coming upon your life, you feel insecure,

then you cling on to this verse, “Lord, I dwell in the secret place of

the Most High, I believe in your word, and because I dwell in the

secret place of the Most High, I will rest and abide under the shadow

of the Almighty.” And as you do that you are already in the secret

place of the Most High. (To be continued)
