PASTOR'S CORNER 20TH MARCH 2016

TOPIC: THE WEAPON OF OUR WARFARE (PART 1)

Every victory recorded in life came after a contest or battle. Everyone that is born again is automatically at war with the devil. The truth and good news is that God empowers every of His children with adequate weapons for victory. But it is not every time that believers use their weapons and so make them vulnerable to antics and defeat by the devil. Reason for this could be ignorant or nonchalant attitude.

The battle we face goes beyond the physical and that is why Apostle Paul clarified the weapons we should carry as soldiers of Christ. 2 Cor. 10:3-5 says “It is true that we live in the world, but we do not fight from worldly motives. The weapons we use in our fight are not the world's weapons but God's powerful weapons, which we use to destroy strongholds. We destroy false arguments; we pull down every proud obstacle that is raised against the knowledge of God; we take every thought captive and make it obey Christ”. (GNB).

One of the weapons of warfare given to believers is the word of God. The spoken word of God is so potent that devil and his cohorts cannot withstand it. When our Lord Jesus Christ came in human form to redeem us. The devil quickly engaged Him with temptation to thwart the plan of God for you and me. Jesus defeated him by quoting the word of God.

People of God, you must be versed in the word of God to equip yourself against the day the devil will engage you in battle. You cannot not fight the devil with gun or any sophisticated weapon but rather with the weapon of the word. Victory in battle hinges on suitable weapons. The devil has not changed his style. He comes to deceive you and make you doubt what you know about God but if you are sound in your knowledge of God through His word you will be strong enough for victory.
The victory of David over Goliath in First Samuel chapter seventeen was not ordinary. David, a small boy with a sling a stone defeated the best soldier of Philistine who carried the best military weapons of his time.

The victory of David came has a result of the spoken word. “David answered, "You are coming against me with sword, spear, and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the LORD Almighty, the God of the Israelite armies, which you have defied. This very day the LORD will put you in my power; I will defeat you and cut off your head. And I will give the bodies of the Philistine soldiers to the birds and animals to eat. Then the whole world will know that Israel has a God, and everyone here will see that the LORD does not need swords or spears to save his people. He is victorious in battle, and he will put all of you in our power." (1 Sam. 17:45-47. GNB).

People of God I make bold in the Lord today that if you too will speak to Goliaths of your life today you will bring them down. Do not let the special prayer service of last week and today passed you by. Take advantage of the two hours of prayer of today to speak to every battle confronting you and the Almighty God will grant you TOTAL VICTORY IN JESUS NAME. (AMEN)
