CHURCH BULLETIN (PASTOR'S CORNER)
Topic: The Weapons of Our Warfare (Part 2)
Last week we shared together how David used the power of spoken word
to achieve victory over Goliath. In the scriptures battles were won in
different ways.
Victory in any battle depends on the potency of one’s
weapon. God has given us as believers various weapons. Our major
weapons are the word of God (sword of the spirit) and prayer. Another
significant weapon that believers must utilise is praise.
Praise is a
spiritual weapon given to us by God to confound satan and his cohorts.
Praise can prevent, silent, stop and reverse satan’s best assaults.
Praise has been proven as an effective weapon especially when other
weapons were deployed with no desired result. In praise, we magnify
God above the battle confronting us and God in return takes over our
battle.
The Bible says that God dwells in the praises of His people
(Psalms 22:3). In other words God inhabits in the atmosphere of His
praise. This implies that praise is a vehicle that coveys us into the
presence and power of God. Quality praise and worship is the gate pass
that lead us in the sacredness of His glory. The Psalmist said “Enter
into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be
thankful unto him, and bless his name.” (Psalms 100:4)
Jehoshaphat got the secret after a revelation that the children of
Judah should not be afraid of the great multitudes of Moabites and
Ammonites who has come to besiege them and that it was a battle
against God. Jehoshaphat organised uncommon praise service to God. In
2 Chron.20:22-24 the record says “And when they began to sing and to
praise, the LORD set ambush against the children of Ammon, Moab, and
mount Seir, which were come against Judah; and they were smitten. For
the children of Ammon and Moab stood up against the inhabitants of
mount Seir, utterly to slay and destroy them: and when they had made
an end of the inhabitants of Seir, every one helped to destroy
another.
And when Judah came toward the watch tower in the wilderness,
they looked unto the multitude, and, behold, they were dead bodies
fallen to the earth, and none escaped”.
As our Almighty God swung into action to deliver great victory to
Jehoshaphat and his men He will do so in your life too as you render
to Him quality praise and worship. Praise God despite your present
challenges by anticipating good to come. Hab. 3:17-18 says “Although
the fig tree shall not blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines;
the labour of the olive shall fail, and the fields shall yield no
meat; the flock shall be cut off from the fold, and there shall be no
herd in the stalls: Yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will joy in the
God of my salvation.” When God’s people begins to praise His name, it
sends the enemy running! I challenge you to be a person of praise and
you will be marching from victory on to victory every day of your
life.
Happy Victorious Easter Sunday.
